fitness plans 2010.

so i'm back on the fitness wagon.  really.  i know, i've been saying it so much, but really...now i'm really gonna get serious.  no beer till maui.  that's 2 and a quarter months or 9 weeks, or 62 days, or 1488 hours, or 5356800 seconds, or well...you get my point.

yeah, i've been going to the gym fairly regularly for the last 2 years.  in the last 6 months i've been going as much as i can, sometimes twice a day, but since i've started noticing injuries either in my knees or hip flexors or shoulders, i've kind of backed off a bit.

d and i were trying to figure out what the plan was for the new year.  both of us wanted to get serious again at the gym.  she's been off for at least a month but wants to get back into it.  i've been going steadily, but want to focus on my diet more than anything else.  we are flummoxed about what to do because the quality of the studio has really gone downhill since janine left.  i do miss her classes.  i got a lot out of them and she'd take the time to focus on you more than some of the other asshats who call you "hey, YOU", despite seeing you damned near every day, five days a week for fucking four months.  piss off.

last night janine and i were bb messaging and she said she has one spot open at her new place and wondered if i'd like to come.  of course i jumped at that opportunity because i'm so tired of the instructors at heartbreaker.  they had a few good ones, but those girls teach at night.  sure, i could join their classes, but d and i had decided we'd do the 6ams again.

the only dilemma is that janine has one spot left, the one i just took.  it's doubtful she can fit d in to her 5pm timeslot.  the thing is, i'm sick and tired of being so sore from the classes i've been in for the last 6 months or more that i need to get back to a place where people know you and can modify things for you.  i dont need to be limping into and out of a class with people who basically shrug and pay more attention to reading nutrition journals than they do actually working out WITH the class and seeing for themselves that they are killing us.  that's what i always loved about janine: she was never out watching the class while class was on.  she was always right in there along with us doing every rep, every squat, and every plank right in till the bitter end.  i admired that about her because she READ our class and made adjustments accordingly.

i'm not sure what my plan is exactly.  janine's classes run monday to thursday at 5 to 550, so i will likely do all of those.  as for the 6am classes...i dont know what i'm going to do.  i suspect that i'll just do a couple of those a week instead of going 5 days a week.  i may do mondays, tues and fridays, simply because wednesdays are always abs and i hate those classes and janine doesnt offer friday fitness.  i still have a membership to heartbreaker, so i kind of would like to continue going there.

i dont *need* d to keep going to the gym.  we can still evidently be friends outside of it.  as it is she already has two other friends there who go to nearly every 6am class, so it's not as if she'd be alone.

i am looking forward to monday's class at janine's and getting back into it.  for now i'm just going to see what i can handle in terms of doing 2 classes a couple of days a week.  i am serious about getting into better shape and losing some inches, which starts with my diet.  a diet which means some sacrifices...i can handle that.
